Support Contracts Offered

Alaska Computer Guy offers two types of service plans to better meet the needs of our home and small business customers because no two businesses have the same information technology (IT) requirements.  For businesses whose needs remain fairly constant from month to month, Service Contracts are available for purchase on a monthly basis which include hardware and software support, routine maintenance tasks to keep computers and local area networks running smoothly, and basic troubleshooting of everyday problems.  (The contract rate assumes an average 1.5 hours of service per computer per month.)  If your IT needs are more unpredictable and can vary a lot from month to month, Blocks of hourly support may be purchased to resolve specific issues as they arise or for the performance of semi-routine maintenance tasks.  Service Contracts are preferred by many businesses with more than 10 computers because it makes technical support and maintenance more consistent and easier to budget for, but Hourly Block Rates are ideal for smaller customers whose support requirements are infrequent or sporadic.

 Service Contracts

All Alaska Computer Guy Service Contracts are designed to provide service and support for hardware and software inclusive of peripheral systems (such as printers or fax machines) and local area networks.  They include regularly scheduled preventative maintenance visits to monitor, maintain, and repair hardware and software issues that arise within the local area networks with the intention of preventing system failures and the minimization of "down time."  Through monthly site visits we will identify and replace hardware that is failing or showing signs of impending failure and prevent most problems before they arise.  Troubling software and spyware that accumulates over time through regular computer use—often termed “cyber-gunk”—will be regularly removed to ensure that user information is kept confidential and prevent computers from slowing down or stopping altogether.  Covered computers will also be monitored to make sure they are running current antivirus and/or spyware programs and include security measures or user passwords as appropriate.

These contracts are sold on a “per computer” or “per hour” basis depending on your plan and cover all necessary repair and maintenance to keep office or lab computers running in pristine operating condition.  The cost of parts and software necessary to make repairs is not included in Contract or Hourly rates and will be billed to the customer.  New computers added to a Service Contract require a one-time setup fee of $199 and will be billed for the remainder of the first month pro-rated at their regular Service Contract Rate.  This setup fee covers on-site computer installation, program configuration, printer/fax installation, local area network setup, and creation of backup or restore disks (approximately 3-5 hours per computer).

 Guaranteed Response Time:

  • For emergency service calls, our technician will respond within 24 hours
  • For all other service calls, our technician will respond within 72 hours
